We can’t wait to welcome you to Manistique for a weekend of books, conversation, and connection. Here’s everything you need to know:
Do I have to pay to attend?
No! Writing North includes free programming throughout the day at The Mill, including book signings, family-friendly activities, community workshops, and more.
Our Readers Day panels and special evening events are ticketed, but you’re absolutely welcome to spend the day with us enjoying the free offerings. We’ll continue updating the schedule as details are finalized.

All venues are within easy walking distance in downtown Manistique, so once you park, you’re set.
Where does the festival begin?
We’ll kick off at 9:30 AM at The Mill with an informal meet-and-mingle. Grab a coffee, browse books, say hello.
At 10:30 AM, we’ll officially open the day with a brief welcome from our Festival Director. After that, ticketed panel attendees will head down to Lake Effect Community Arts Center to begin Readers Day programming.
Can I buy tickets the day of the event?
Yes — space permitting, tickets will be available for purchase at The Mill.
That said, the event may sell out, so we recommend purchasing in advance if there’s something you don’t want to miss.
Where should I park?
Downtown Manistique offers ample free parking.
If Cedar Street parking is full, you’ll find additional free lots behind The Mill and throughout the downtown area. Everything is just a short walk away.
